MatataXplore to Showcase its Solvia 8×32 AI-Powered Binoculars at IFA 2026
August 23, 2026MatataXplore created Solvia 8×32, AI-powered binoculars with an integrated camera for taking photos or making videos. The product is designed for beginner birdwatchers, outdoor enthusiasts, nature learners and content creators seeking a smarter, more accessible way to explore the natural world. With a single device, users can observe nature, identify species, document discoveries and share their experiences within a few seconds.

What sets Solvia 8×32 apart from other binoculars is combining optical and AI capabilities with a lightweight design (680 grams) for extended outdoor sessions, offering a seamless process from observing to sharing experiences, the built-in screen, and the affordable price ranging from 399 euros (Solvia 8×32) to 549 euros (Solvia 8×32 Pro).

The Solvia 8×32 is available in three versions. The basic version includes 16 GB of Micro SD storage, while the Sovia 8×32 Plus has 32 GB of Micro SD storage, a carrying cage and a tripod adapter. The Solvia 8×32 Pro includes a field kit with GPS, compass, polarizing filter, fill light, and external power support.
There is currently no directly comparable competing product. The most similar device on the market differs in terms of technology, target audience, and price.
In-house AI model
The AI model was developed in-house and supports offline and real-time identification of more than 10,000 bird species worldwide. It is trained using a combination of public datasets and continuously collected real-world data. Under optimal conditions, the model achieves an accuracy rate of 98%.
Some technical features:
– ED (Extra-Low Dispersion) glass
– BaK4 prism system
– 8× magnification
– 32mm objective lens
– low light performance
– 7.6° field of view
– 16mm eye relief
– Twist-up eyecups
– One-tap bird identification with results shown on screen
– 2.8-inch screen
– 5MP 1/2.7″ sensor
– HD photo & video recording (2592 × 1936)
– AI-powered image enhancement for improved clarity
– One-tap sharing to social media platforms

MatataXplore-Optics app
The official MatataXplore companion app extends the AI recognition beyond on-device bird identification. Powered by an in-house AI model, the app offers broader nature identification capabilities, including plants, wildlife, and landmarks. By combining AI vision technology with continuously collected real-world data, the app helps users better understand and explore the natural world. While the binoculars focus on fast, offline bird identification directly on the device, the app serves as an intelligent exploration platform that broadens the range of use cases and delivers an even richer discovery experience.
Through the app, users can enable screen sharing so that two people can view the content together. In addition, users can access their photo gallery directly within the app and easily share photos and videos on social media.
R&D process
Within two years of developing Solvia 8×32, the Research and Development department addressed several major technical challenges: preserving the familiar viewing experience of traditional binoculars viewing experience while adding digital functionality; integrating a camera system, AI computing and a display into a compact, lightweight device; and balancing optical quality, imaging capability and portability.
Product testing has been underway in China, Germany and the United States since August 2025.
Market opportunities
The global binocular market was valued at approximately USD 1.2–1.3 billion in 2025 and continues to grow steadily, driven by outdoor recreation, birdwatching and wildlife observation. Use cases extend beyond birdwatching to wildlife observation in general, hiking, outdoor travel, nature education and field exploration. Birdwatching is becoming a growing global outdoor activity. The global birdwatching tourism market was estimated at around US$70 billion in 2025 and is expected to continue expanding in the coming years.
As AI technology develops, outdoor products are evolving from traditional tools into intelligent companions. AI-powered identification, digital recording, and connected experiences are creating new opportunities for the next generation of optical products.
Kickstarter campaign
Solvia has attracted interest from backers in more than 80 countries worldwide. Over USD 300,000 has been raised within one month via a Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign.
